Victorian Guaranteed Sick Pay Leave Until 2025

Date Published

Up until 2025, the Victorian Government will guarantee sick leave.

The Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee ensures that qualified casual and contract workers, including sole proprietors, will be paid when they are unable to go to work.

The Victorian Government has provided total funding for the three-year experimental program. The pilot will now continue until Thursday, March 13, 2025, having been given an additional year’s extension.

Guidelines for the Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee Program

The Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee ensures that eligible contract and casual workers will get sick pay if they are unable to report to work. Because no employee should have to decide between their health or the health of a loved one and a day’s pay.

The first state to offer sick and carer’s pay to contract and casual employees is Victoria.

The Victorian Government has provided total funding for the three-year experimental program. The pilot program will now continue until 13 March 2025 after being given an additional year’s extension.
